IBM Tivoli Announces SAN Manager V1.3
IBM-Tivoli announced a new certification, the IBM Certified Deployment Professional – Tivoli SAN Manager V1.3, which is being offered through the worldwide Tivoli Professional Certification Program. This one-test certification is designed to consistently measure and validate job skills and performance levels of an IBM Tivoli SAN Manager V1.3 technical professional. Specific areas include technology and product knowledge along with capabilities in planning and implementing customer requirements into a solution with appropriate hardware, software and services.
Tivoli Professional Certification Program Manager Ben Briggs said that those interested in pursuing this certification must have hands-on experience with UNIX user management, network information system (NIS), network file system (NFS), TCP/IP, name resolution (Domain Name Server (DNS), WINS), Automounter and/or Kerberos. You should also have a working knowledge of IBM Tivoli SAN Manager and fibre switch administration, basic understanding of SAN technology, such as switches, disk subsystems and HBAs, and in-depth knowledge of two or more of the following environments: AIX, Windows XP Professional, 2000/2003 Server or Advanced Server, Linux and Solaris.
Briggs said that achieving this certification should demonstrate an overall mastery of SAN technology, storage management and storage network management solutions. “A person who becomes certified in IBM Tivoli SAN Manager V1.3 has demonstrated the ability to take both customer business requirements and system requirements into account in planning a complex deployment,” said Briggs. “Earning this certification provides undisputed proof of your ability to implement IBM Tivoli SAN Manager V1.3 effectively.”
