When there's a problem with the internet, or a print job stalls out, or a dual monitor display has to be configured, there's an obvious solution: find a younger person. When you consider that many adults now work from home, it's not out of the question to suggest that a great deal of workplace IT support is now handled by techs who roll their eyes at mom or dad.
There are plenty of support issues, of course, that are above the pay grade of a kid with an iPhone, and too complex for a YouTube walkthrough or ChatGPT. We still need you, and we still love you, IT support professionals. More to the point, we'd love to steer you in the direction of our 2023 Computer Technician Certification Survey.
If your primary job function is hardware or software troubleshooting, servicing, and/or repair, or if you function in a helpdesk or IT support staff role, then congratulations! You’re on the team. Or at least we hope you’re on the team. If in addition to meeting any of those descriptions you also have at least one current IT support certification, then please take the survey … and welcome to the team!
As much as we like to think that technology runs itself, or that everyone who is anyone knows what they’re doing in every problematic hardware or software situation, there’s still enormous demand for people highly attuned to the proper function and usage of computers (and related devices like printers) to handhold the rest of the world through the trouble spots.
If you’re one of the certified IT support professionals who is out there on the front lines, then you’ve come to the right place. We want to find out all about your certification experience. The computer technician realm isn’t nearly as thick with certification offerings as some IT realms. Are certification providers still managing to get the job done?
We also want to get inside the IT support world just a bit and get a snapshot of what the men and women on the inside see there each day. As with previous surveys in this series, we’re still in a bit of an experimental transition, and we hope to get better at going in this new direction.
As we always do, we’ve added a dash of incentive to participate. If you take the survey all the way to the end, we’ll thank you with either (or both!) of two rewards. You can get a free digital copy of the next issue of Certification Magazine. Or get a one-year print subscription at 40 percent off the normal cost. (Hate making decisions? Get ‘em both! We don’t mind.)
BIG THANKS to everyone who participated in our 2023 Computer Technician Certification Survey! Watch for the results to appear the forthcoming 2023 Summer Edition of Certification Magazine.
