Vigilar Acquires Intense School

One of the leading information security consulting companies in the market today has announced it will acquire one of the top IT security training organizations. Intense School will combine with buyer Vigilar Inc. to form a single information security education provider.

“We’re focused on making sure our customers have optimal security posture,” said Hamaschwami “Raj” Rajan, CEO of Vigilar. “You have to be secure. Security is transcending the entire organization. It’s no longer limited to a few security folks in the company—it’s something that everyone needs to be aware of and needs to know.”

Rajan said Vigilar was established on three corporate pillars: providing strong consultative services and process-related consulting, technology implementation and management, and training its customers. “The motivation for the deal with Intense is that we do a set of training,” he said. “Vigilar is going to be growing very aggressively through our additional acquisitions around the country and through organic growth. We are going to be able to take our offerings in the market to different parts of the country very quickly in the next 12 to 18 months.”

Intense School, which has trained approximately 19,000 IT professionals over the past eight years, has people working in more than 90 percent of the Fortune 500, said David Kaufman, who was still the CEO of that company at press time. It is one of the leading companies involved with training in the areas of ethical hacking, forensics and advanced penetration testing. “We bring security into everything that we do,” Kaufman said. “Intense School is really designed to focus on information technology professionals. A lot of the local training organizations are focused on training to the least common denominator. You could go to any local training center and they would probably serve you quite well, but our clientele are information technology and information security professionals that want to cut to the chase. They want to get it done in a reasonable amount of time, and they don’t want all the fluff. That’s where we have been and will continue to be focused on.”

“From our perspective, we’re just really happy that we can offer all of our customers additional products and services that will serve their information security needs,” Kaufman said of the acquisition. “That’s going to be a big benefit of alignment with Vigilar.”
