Valtera Teams With Crain’s to Identify ‘Best Places to Work in Chicago’

<strong>Rolling Meadows, Ill. &mdash; Feb. 18</strong><br />Valtera, a provider of human capital consulting solutions, was recently selected by Crain&rsquo;s Chicago Business, the region&rsquo;s pre-eminent business newspaper, to conduct survey research for its inaugural list of the &ldquo;Best Places to Work in Chicago.&rdquo; Chicago-area companies with more than 100 employees were invited to participate in the process.<br /><br />The &ldquo;Best Places to Work in Chicago&rdquo; study was conducted by Valtera beginning in November 2007. The study was a two-part process. Initially, each participating company answered a detailed questionnaire regarding their HR policies and practices and their employee benefits and perks. Employees, who were randomly selected from each company by Valtera, were then invited to respond to an engagement survey.<br /><br />Valtera consultants conducted a rigorous analysis of all the data collected from the HR questionnaire and survey to determine the best places to work. The results of the study, including the top-scoring employers, will be revealed in a future issue of Crain&rsquo;s Chicago Business.<br /><br />The chief goal of the study was to identify companies having both the best people policies and the most highly engaged workforce, as these traits are associated with a favorable working environment for employees. Companies benefit from having engaged employees, too, as Valtera research has shown strong connections between employee engagement and customer satisfaction and corporate financial performance. <br /><br />&ldquo;We are pleased to be acting as the research arm for Crain&rsquo;s Chicago Business for this survey,&rdquo; said Scott Young, managing consultant at Valtera. &ldquo;Most business leaders have always understood the importance of retaining top talent. There is now increasing recognition that an engaged workforce can be a sustainable source of competitive advantage, and one that is difficult for competitors to quickly replicate.&rdquo; <br />
