With information security becoming a high priority for most companies, the Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) certification is an assessor for those who work in the growing field of computer forensics.

The CCE is designed to measure IT professionals’ knowledge and use of sound evidence handling and storage procedures and to test if they follow sound forensic examination procedures when conducting examinations. The certification also helps ensure that forensic computer examiners use sound, verifiable methodologies, follow accepted handling of evidence procedures and adhere to sound ethical standards in presenting their evidence.

Considering the nature of the content covered, the CCE certification requires that applicants have no criminal record. Other requirements for certification are:

  • Meet minimum experience or training requirements.
  • Abide by the certification’s code of ethical standards.
  • Pass an online examination.
  • Successfully perform actual forensic examinations on three test media.

The certification fee is $345. To check for approved training centers, go to
