Nashua, N.H. — Dec. 10
SkillSoft PLC, a SaaS provider of e-learning and performance support solutions for global enterprises, government, education and small to medium-sized businesses, and Sun Microsystems announced a new agreement for SkillSoft to market and distribute Sun-authored e-learning courseware for Sun’s latest Java and Solaris software solutions.

The agreement expands an existing partnership between the companies and offers SkillSoft clients additional resources for the training, development and certification of their IT organizations.

“This partnership with SkillSoft allows us to offer highly effective training courses on a leading e-learning platform to customers who are looking to enhance the skills of their IT professionals by leveraging our flexible training options,” said Denny Schall, senior director of Sun Learning Services. “We are excited to work with SkillSoft in this strategic relationship to promote and distribute the Sun Collection of Java and Solaris training and certification programs, and we anticipate tremendous interest and results.”

The Solaris and Java courses provide more than 300 hours of content within SkillSoft’s Sun Collection, and the collection is focused around Sun’s Java and Solaris certifications programs.

“This extension of our established partnership with Sun will allow us to work collaboratively to offer Sun’s suite of Solaris and Java e-learning products, giving SkillSoft customers a cost-effective solution for certifying their IT professionals on these important technologies,” said Lee Ritze, senior vice president of marketing with SkillSoft. “With the increased courseware and certification opportunities available, employers will benefit from hiring individuals who are trained and certified on Sun technologies.”
