<p><strong>Philadelphia &mdash; Oct. 3</strong><br />Individuals in career transition today want outplacement services that stay connected with them until they are able to secure a new opportunity and provide them with the tools and resources to gain a competitive edge in a challenging employment market, according to research of 21,000 outplacement candidates in 19 countries by Right Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Manpower Inc.<br /><br />With outplacement services typically ending before many candidates achieve successful career objectives, employees in transition want outplacement services that remain continuously connected with them until their desired career goals are reached.<br /><br />&ldquo;Displaced employees are no longer just seeking another job like their previous one &mdash; they are more frequently changing career directions, and their job searches have become much more diverse,&rdquo; said Douglas J. Matthews, Right Management president and chief operating officer. &ldquo;They are seeking assistance with changing job functions and industries and help with exploring a range of work-life options, entrepreneurial and retirement alternatives.&rdquo;<br /><br />Right Management&rsquo;s research uncovered key insights into the criteria for satisfaction and success for outplacement candidates.  </p><p>This research was critical in Right Management&rsquo;s development of RightChoice, an innovative, global outplacement service that supports individuals all the way through to transition success.<br /><br />&ldquo;According to our research, candidates&rsquo; satisfaction is highly dependent on one-on-one career guidance, access to critical skills and content specialized to their career situations and objectives,” Matthews said. “RightChoice has tailored its services in the areas that matter most to separated employees.&rdquo; <br /><br />According to Right Management&rsquo;s research, outplacement candidates today want:<br /></p><ul><li><strong>Continuous Connections:  </strong>Employees want outplacement service to continue until they have achieved a successful outcome which they define &mdash; whether securing a new job, starting a business or exploring work-life options. Industry standards have shown two-thirds of candidates&rsquo; programs expire before they successfully transition to new roles.
