Question 3) Test Yourself on CompTIA i-Net+.
SubObjective : Create a Logic Diagram of Internet Components from the Client to the Server
Single Answer Multiple Choice
Which hardware device is used to convert digital signals from a computer into an analog signal for transmission of information through phone lines?
A. NIC
B. Modem
C. Bridge
D. Router
Answer:
B. Modem
Tutorial:
A modem (MOdulator/DEModulator) is a hardware device that can be located internally or externally on your computer. The modem device is used to connect to the Internet and to networks.
Information transmitted through phone lines is done using analog signals, whereas a computer only understands digital signals. When a modem connects through the phone line, it converts the digital signals from the computer to analog signals. Without this conversion there can be no transmission of information over the phone lines.
