Nortel Networks has released three new certifications and is offering a beta test for a fourth certification that is nearing the end of its development cycle. The three new certifications cover the Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) 5100 Release 2.0 and Succession 1000/1000M Release 3.0 products, and the certification in development will cover IP Convergence CallPilot.

For the MCS 5100 Release 2.0 product, Nortel is now offering two new certifications: Nortel Networks Certified Design Specialist (NNCDS) and Nortel Networks Certified Support Specialist (NNCSS). The Design Specialist on MCS 5100 Release 2.0 measures candidates’ ability to design and plan Multimedia Communication Server Release 2.0 products to support customers’ business requirements. Two exams are required for this credential: #920-801, VoIP Technology, and #920-144, Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) 5100 Release 2.0.

The Support Specialist certification on MCS 5100 Release 2.0 tests the ability to install, maintain, configure and perform day-to-day operational activities for the product. Two exams are required to earn the certification: #920-801, VoIP Technology, and #920-134, MCS 5100 Release 2.0.

The third new certification is a Nortel Networks Certified Design Expert (NNCDE) certification for Succession 1000/1000M Release 3.0. It tests candidates’ ability to apply design principles and plan Succession 1000/1000M Release 3.0 solutions. Two exams are required for this credential: #920-802, IP Convergence and #920-442, Succession 1000/1000M Release 3.0. In addition, candidates must first earn the corresponding Specialist exam as a prerequisite.

Finally, Nortel is developing an NNCDE certification on IP Convergence CallPilot. The beta testing for one of the required exams began March 5. Registration for this exam, #921-444, CallPilot 2.x Unified Messaging, opened March 4, and the first 50 candidates who register for the exam can take it for free. Exam #920-802, IP Convergence, is also required to earn this certification and is available now. As a prerequisite, the qualified candidate must be certified as a VoIP CallPilot 2.0 Design Specialist.
