Excelsior College as Preferred Education Provider

<p><strong>Albany, N.Y. &mdash; June 28</strong><br />McDonald&rsquo;s USA LLC and Excelsior College have entered into an agreement, whereby employees of McDonald&rsquo;s USA LLC and its franchisees will be able to earn college degrees through Excelsior using, in part, credits earned at the corporation&rsquo;s Hamburger University.<br /><br />As the worldwide management training center of excellence for McDonald&rsquo;s company and franchisee employees, more than 5,000 students a year participate in Hamburger University courses and learning activities. <br /><br />&ldquo;Excelsior College is proud and honored to join with McDonald&rsquo;s, a world leader in employee education and training, to make college degrees accessible to its employees,&rdquo; said John F. Ebersole, Excelsior College president. &ldquo;Excelsior College&rsquo;s mission has always included the recognition of college-level education received in noncollegiate settings, and Hamburger University&rsquo;s programs are among the best available anywhere.&rdquo;</p><p>Diana Thomas, vice president of U.S. training, learning and development and dean of Hamburger University, also applauded the move. </p><p>&ldquo;By partnering with Excelsior College, we are able to further opportunities for our employees to achieve their personal, professional and academic goals,&rdquo; Thomas said. &ldquo;As a brand, we cannot be successful unless our employees are successful, and education provides a solid foundation to achieve success.&rdquo; <br /><br />Depending on the degree sought by a McDonald&rsquo;s employee and Excelsior&rsquo;s faculty-determined degree requirements, students can earn up to 46 college credits at Hamburger University, which can be applied toward earning an Excelsior College associate or bachelor&rsquo;s degree. <br /><br />All the courses available at Hamburger University have been awarded college credit recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE).&nbsp; </p><p>Excelsior College will accept the ACE credit recommendations and apply credit earned through successful completion of the Hamburger University courses toward its associate- and baccalaureate-level degree programs. <br /><br />Excelsior has matched the Hamburger University coursework to degree requirements in several of its business and liberal arts programs. </p><p>McDonald&rsquo;s employees will be able to see how the credits they have earned through the corporate university can be applied to these Excelsior College degree programs. </p><p>Excelsior&rsquo;s academic advisors will work with McDonald&rsquo;s employees to help them plan the effective use of the Hamburger University credits and advise them on completion of their Excelsior College degree using the college&rsquo;s online courses and computer-delivered examination options.</p>
