Let’s Hear It Data Admins
As I perused the CertMag.com Discussion Boards the other day, the fact that not one forum member or database administrator had posted a thread in the Database Forum so far stunned me. Considering that a DBA is on-call 24/7, continuously multi-tasks like there is no tomorrow and possesses a vast set of soft and technical skills, I thought I would take it upon myself to start a thread.
The reality is that DBAs are rapidly becoming central figures in organizations today. A DBA is no longer the person sitting in the back office, handcuffed to his or her computer and taking directions from application developers. Today’s DBA drives organizational objectives, works closely with company leaders, strategically moves an organization forward with data, and increases database productivity and reliability—among all the other customary technical everyday jobs. Simply put, a DBA can single-handedly help drive the direction of the company.
So, my question is: Because stress is probably a common presence in your lives, what is your ultimate stress reducer?
