Geomatics Center of Excellence in Houston

<p><strong>Norcross, Ga. &mdash; June 18</strong><br />Leica Geosystems has created its first &quot;Geomatics Center of Excellence,&quot; an innovative technology showcase and educational training center designed to support the surveying and engineering community throughout Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.<br /> </p><p>This 4,000-square-foot, modern, high-tech facility in Houston will offer sales, support, and service for all Leica Geosystems surveying, high-definition scanning products (HDS) and reference station network infrastructures. <br /><br />&quot;The Geomatics Center of Excellence is built with the customers&#39; needs in mind,&quot; said Andrew Hurley, Leica Geosystems area sales manager. &quot;Throughout the planning process, we&#39;ve focused on creating a facility driven by the needs of the local market where we will offer direct sales, extensive training and post-sale support. Further, this state-of-the-art facility will be equipped to provide full technical service on all products.&quot;<br /><br />The Geomatics Center of Excellence is scheduled to open in late summer 2007, at which time Leica Geosystems will host an open house week for surveying and engineering professionals and business partners to meet with Center of Excellence employees, see demonstrations of Leica Geosystems&#39; products and tour the facility.&nbsp; </p><p>Key staff at the facility will include direct-sales representatives Jeff Ryall, Donald Biggs and Donnie Steel, a professional team with 30-plus years experience, collectively, in the surveying and engineering market.<br /><br />&quot;The Center of Excellence is a direct reflection of our renewed commitment to surveyors and engineers in Texas and surrounding states,&quot; Hurley said. &quot;We&#39;re excited about this opportunity to work hand-in-hand with these individuals and groups, sharing our knowledge, products and services while developing ideas and concepts for future advancements.&quot;&nbsp; </p>
