JDSU Signs Contract for Software from SumTotal

<p><strong>Mountain View, Calif. &mdash; June 21&nbsp;</strong><br />SumTotal Systems Inc., a global provider of talent and learning management solutions, has signed a contract to provide 7,000 employees at Milpitas, Calif.-based JDSU (an enabler of broadband and optical innovation) with TotalPerformance, software that sets and analyzes employee goals, develops succession plans, identifies<br />high-performing workers and automates performance appraisals. </p><p>JDSU carries out its operations around the globe. So earlier this month, SumTotal implemented the performance management software for JDSU in Chinese, English and French.<br /><br />&quot;SumTotal&#39;s product aligns well with our new emphasis on performance management tools that enable high-quality feedback between managers and employees and development dialogue versus providing a strictly quantitative rating process,&quot; said Jenny Brandemuehl,<br />JDSU director of talent management and organization effectiveness.</p><p>Carlino Cecilio, JDSU HRIS manager, agrees.</p><p>&quot;We feel SumTotal&#39;s Visual Profiler drag-and-drop functionality for rating employees is innovative and provides us with flexibility,&quot; Cecilio said. &quot;We also<br />chose SumTotal because of its full-service offering and breadth of product suite. They not only provided a BPO model where standard configurations will be done continually but also a learning management system that delivers and tracks workforce education.&quot;<br /><br />SumTotal&#39;s business process outsourcing (BPO) services include ongoing system administration, as well as help desk support for users.<br /><br />&quot;JDSU&#39;s vision for managing talent is a strategic one that taps technology to improve performance and gauge how well employees are carrying out their jobs,&quot; said Nick Rusiniak, SumTotal director of sales for Western North America. &quot;With the implementation of TotalPerformance, we feel JDSU has built a foundation for a multiyear plan to deploy goal setting, workforce succession planning, 360-degree feedback and our learning management system in one, integrated talent management solution.&quot;<br /><br />The company will host TotalPerformance for JDSU at SumTotal&#39;s data center.</p>
