ITCC Fall Member Meeting set for October
The IT Certification Council is on a mission to improve certification. A collaborative association of like-minded individuals, the ITCC meets twice a year to address challenges facing the certification industry. The ITCC promotes exam security, works to ensure that the value of certifications (both perceived and actual) remains high, and addresses evolutionary trends like digital badging.
The more than 20 members of the ITCC come from across the information technology spectrum, including representation by such leading tech firms as Microsoft, IBM, and Cisco; participation from industry organizations like CompTIA and The Linux Foundation; and engagement by leading exam and training facilitators like Pearson VUE and Kaplan.
There are two member meetings every year, in spring and fall, to facilitate cooperation and encourage furtherance of the ITCC’s various certification initiatives. The fast-approaching 2018 Fall Member Meeting will be held Oct. 15-16 in San Ramon, Calif., at the U.S. headquarter of ITCC member firm and global business management software developer SAP.
The two-day agenda for the Fall Member Meeting includes collaboration and brainstorming discussions, problem-solving sessions that address challenges faced by members, and the sharing of information about certifications strategies and best practices. There is also a networking dinner to facilitate discussion and engagement in a more relaxed environment.
The ITCC has a number of task forces that meet regularly to pursue various certification-related projects, including groups dedicated to Security Certifications, Agile Development, Digital Badging, Certification Marketing, and more. A special session at the Fall Member Meeting provides an overview of each task force’s current activities.
The ITCC on an ongoing basis courts new membership by groups with an interest in tech certification. A few prospective members are thus occasionally invited to participate in the semiannual member meetings.
The IT Certification Council recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its founding. Among its other endeavors and initiatives, the ITCC bestows an annual Innovation Award, given to an individual or organization that breaks new ground in pursuit of improving and refining IT certification.
