Palm Harbor, Fla. — Feb. 3
(ISC)2 (“ISC-squared”), a not-for-profit provider of education and certifying information for security professionals, announced its “Resource Guide for Today’s Information Security Professional, Global Edition” is now available online for the first time since the Guide was published since 2006.

A printed version of the guide will continue to be distributed as a pocket-sized, spiral bound book at the beginning of each year; and furthermore, the online version will enable information security professionals to access and publish details on events, education resources, professional associations and online sites, as well as the ability to conduct keyword searches of hundreds of entries. All versions are freely available to (ISC)2 members, as well as the general public.

“The (ISC)2 resource guide is considered by many information security professionals and managers around the world as the ‘go to’ source for educational and networking information, especially important in these economically difficult times,” said W. Hord Tipton, executive director of (ISC)2. “The online format will only enhance its value to those in the information security field who want to quickly reference valuable resources.”

First developed in 2004 as a pilot edition focused on U.S. government content, the (ISC)2 resource guide expanded its scope in 2005 to cover industry-wide resources for the Americas region and again in 2006 to incorporate global content and distribution. The guide provides listings for security-focused professional associations, public and private sector events, Web sites, online and print publications and educational institutions in North, Central and South America, Europe/Middle East/Africa and Asia-Pacific.

“Information security professionals require tools and resources that are current and easily accessible,” Tipton said. “In our mission to help develop these individuals from all around the world, we are proud to offer online access to the ‘Resource Guide’ and will continue to seek ways of enhancing and expanding its offerings of professional resources to our members and other professionals around the world.”

This year, the guide’s co-sponsors include global industry organizations such as Microsoft, ISACA, CA, Cisco, TechTarget and RSA Conference. Professionals can obtain a printed copy of the book or CD-ROM at a variety of worldwide industry conferences throughout the year.
