(ISC)2 Appoints New Members to Its Advisory Board

<p><strong>Palm Harbor, Fla. &mdash; Dec. 19</strong><br />(ISC)2 (ISC-squared), a nonprofit global organization in educating and certifying information security professionals throughout their careers, announced it has appointed six new members to the (ISC)2 Advisory Board of the Americas (ABA), including three located in South America.<br /><br />The new members are:<br /><br />&bull;    Robert &ldquo;Bob&rdquo; B. Batie Jr., CISSP&ndash;ISSAP, ISSEP, ISSMP, CISM, CAP, IAM. Batie is a senior principal systems security engineer at Raytheon&rsquo;s Network Centric Systems in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he leads and supports information assurance activities for a variety of projects worldwide.<br /><br />&bull;    Maria da Graça Bianchi, CISSP, GIAC. Bianchi is a senior information security specialist at TIVIT Performance Criativa in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which is part of the Votorantim Group, one of Latin America&rsquo;s largest conglomerates.<br /><br />&bull;    Walmir Rodrigues de Freitas, CISSP, CISM, CISA, CBCP. Freitas is the CISO at Fidelity National Information Services, located in Sao Paulo, Brazil.<br /><br />&bull;    John Galindo, CISSP. Galindo is the co-founder and chief executive officer at Digiware, an IT security consulting company based in Colombia with a presence in Ecuador, Perú and Venezuela.<br /><br />&bull;    Brian R. Schultz, CISSP-ISSAP, ISSMP, CISM, CISA. Schultz is the information assurance practice lead within the national security division of the Battelle Memorial Institute in Arlington, Va., where he is responsible for the strategic direction for the Battelle information assurance practice.<br /><br />&bull;    Steven C. Toy, CISSP. Toy is the wide area networking manager for SAS in Cary, N.C., overseeing all of SAS&rsquo;s external connectivity, including connections to more than 400 offices in more than 50 countries and remote access for employees, partners and customers.<br /><br />(ISC)2 employs three regional advisory boards for North and South America, Asia Pacific and Europe/Middle East/Africa, as well as a U.S. federal government advisory board, to provide guidance and feedback to the (ISC)2 executive management team on pressing local information security policies and trends and make recommendations regarding its professional certification and education programs.<br /><br />Two new co-chairs were also named to manage the advisory board:<br /><br />&bull;    Diana-Lynn Contesti, CISSP-ISSAP, ISSMP, SSCP, currently serves as acting treasurer on the (ISC)2 board of directors, was a charter member of the Advisory Board of the Americas in 2004, currently serves as information security officer for ArcelorMittal-Dofasco Hamilton, and has more than 20 years of experience in information security and disaster recovery planning.<br /><br />&bull;    Steven Johnston, CISSP, who was also a charter member of the Advisory Board of the Americas, currently serves as senior security and technology advisor for the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, and has more than 20 years of experience in information security.<br /><br />&ldquo;(ISC)2&rsquo;s regional advisory boards provide me with critical insight into how we can better meet the needs of information security professionals and the certification market both locally and worldwide,&rdquo; said Eddie Zeitler, CISSP, executive director of (ISC)2. &ldquo;Our current and new ABA members represent a wide variety of industries, geographies and organizations. Their expertise and valuable contributions will remain vital as we expand our offerings in existing markets and move into new ones.&rdquo;<br /><br />The other ABA members include:<br /><br />&bull;    Bruce Brody, CISSP, vice president of information assurance, CACI<br /><br />&bull;    Stephen R.
