IBM Security Cert Accepts Security+
CompTIA, which provides the popular A+ and Network+ certifications, has announced that its Security+ certification is now a requirement for certification as an IBM Certified Advanced Deployment Professional – Tivoli Security Management Solutions. This IBM Tivoli certification will test IT professionals’ broad industry security skills and measure their skills in creating secure operating environments with Tivoli security and identity management software.
To become an IBM Certified Advanced Deployment Professional – Tivoli Security Management Solutions 2003, you must pass a total of four exams. The two core required exams are Security+ from CompTIA and a choice of IBM deployment certifications: either IBM Tivoli Access Manager for E-Business or IBM Tivoli Access Manager for Business Integration. There are also two elective exams required, chosen from the following: IBM Tivoli Privacy Manager, IBM Tivoli Risk Manager or IBM Tivoli Identity Manager.
CompTIA’s Security+ credential measures a candidates knowledge in security topics such as communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, access control, authentication, external attack and operational and organizational security. Those who pass the Security+ exam have mastered security skills equivalent to two years of practical networking experience with a security emphasis.
The IBM Certified Advanced Deployment Professional – Tivoli Security Management Solutions is one of three Advanced Deployment Professional credentials recently introduced. The others include certification in Enterprise Management and Storage Management. These three certifications are the highest-level credentials offered by IBM for professionals working with IBM Tivoli software.
