GM Recognizes Cisco as 2007 Supplier of the Year

<strong>San Jose, Calif. &mdash; April 28</strong><br />Cisco received the General Motors 2007 Supplier of the Year award for its significant contributions to GM&#39;s global product and performance achievements. The 16th annual award, themed the "Best of the Best," was given during ceremonies April 26 at the Sawgrass Marriott Hotel in Jacksonville, Fla. <br /><br />"GM is proud to honor Cisco as a GM Supplier of the Year winner," said Bo Andersson, GM group vice president of global purchasing and supply chain. "This award is our way of telling the winners that we appreciate all of their efforts in working together with GM to manufacture world-class vehicles. <br /><br />"Cisco is among the best of the best," he continued. "They understand that our mutual success can only be achieved by sharing common goals and priorities." <br /><br />The next-generation information technology network at GM is serving as a collaboration and innovation platform for product-development engineers and support people at the company&#39;s facilities around the globe. <br /><br />"This award reflects the strong working relationship we have forged with GM and the ability for two large organizations to listen and institute business model and process changes that deliver significant return on investment for both organizations," said Gary Moore, senior vice president of the services group at Cisco. "GM provided us with the inspiration and the guidance to work within its global IT blueprint and has once again showed why it is an industry leader in IT best practices. The award serves as a beacon for a new generation of business model partnerships that Cisco and many of its other large customers will be able to benefit from in the future." <br /><br />The GM Supplier of the Year award began as a global program in 1992. Winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. This year, General Motors honored 92 suppliers for their outstanding performance throughout 2007. <br />
