Falling Victim to Black Monday

OK, so I didn’t fall victim to exactly Black Monday—the Monday after the Thanksgiving shopping insanity—but I pretty much have fallen prey to shopping on the Internet in general, no matter what day or season it is. Though, it hasn’t been my fault exactly. I do go into the stores. I even do some of my shopping there. But, it’s hard to resist when I’m on the e-mail list for every store on Michigan Avenue, the nonpareil shopping strip here in Chicago. I get coupons, deals, “secret sale” alerts, you name it, at least every day.

Now, I know it’s my own fault for signing up for these lists in the first place, but those CRM/E-Commerce folks sure know how to get me. I can honestly say that about 95 percent of my holiday shopping is done. I also can honestly say that 100 percent of those items were purchased on the Internet. But really—who can resist the discounts, the newfound friendship with the UPS guy and the overall simplicity that shopping online brings to your life? I know I can’t.
