Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. — April 28
Senior leaders from top companies in the managed technology services market will share strategies for profitability as part of an executive panel discussion at CompTIA’s Breakaway 2009, the premier event for the North American information technology (IT) channel.

Breakaway is scheduled for Aug. 3-6 at the Mirage Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The executive panel “Stay Profitable in Tough Times – Move to a Managed Services Model!” is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Aug. 5. Industry executives scheduled to participate include:

Gerald Blackie, chief executive officer, Kaseya, a global provider of IT automation software for IT solution providers and public and private sector IT organizations.
Justin Crotty, vice president, services, Ingram Micro Inc., the world’s largest technology distributor, providing sales, marketing and logistics services.
Michael Proper, chief executive officer, CentralPointe Inc., provider of the world’s most integrated, comprehensive and easy-to-use IT management platform for small and distributed environments.

“Managed service providers are challenged daily by how to design, price, market and deliver their offerings in order to maximize profits,” said Kelly Ricker, vice president of events and conferences at CompTIA. “These challenges are even greater when the economy turns downward. This panel of managed services experts will divulge what steps service providers can take to guard against profit erosion and to lay the foundation for long-term success.”

The panel is scheduled to be moderated by Joe Panettieri, co-founder, executive vice president and editorial director of Nine Lives Media Inc.

Each year, Breakaway attracts senior executives from companies at the forefront of technology innovation and the business and channel partners they rely on to bring products and services to market. The conference provides a setting for exhibitors and attendees to learn new ways to grow their businesses, gain insight into the latest industry trends and form new partnerships.

Conference registration for Breakaway is free for technology resellers and solution providers who are members of CompTIA. Others who register by May 31 are eligible for a special conference registration price of $199.

In addition, a special offer on rooms at the Mirage is available to Breakaway attendees. Hotel reservations made before July 1 will receive the Breakaway special rate of $90 per night between Aug. 2 and 6.

Breakaway is now known as CompTIA ChannelCon (2013). For more information, visit http://channelcon.comptia.org/.
