Montreal — July 2
E-motional.com Software announced the release of version 2.10 of “Unlock Administrator” software that controls user access to a locked Windows workstation. With Unlock Administrator, IT system administrators gain the flexibility of specifying which users can fully unlock a computer while keeping an existing session open, as well as which users can unlock the computer forcing the current session to close.

Both HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accounting Act) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act: Public Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act) require that IT administrators ensure the safeguarding of electronic assets, including access control to programs and data, as well as auditing and accountability of user access.

Unlock Administrator helps to meet these goals by ensuring computer systems in a shared environment are not left locked and inaccessible by others employees. At the same time, it supports the use of individual passwords rather than the previous method of sharing a single password amongst numerous employees.

”Unlock Administrator delivers powerful system security and administration features that are essential in today's open-concept corporate offices with free movement of employees and visitors, as well as in high-security environments such as financial institutions and banks, hospitals and pharmaceutical research facilities, government offices and military installations,” said Sandra Buckingham, director of business development for e-motional.com software.

Unlock Administrator is ideal for the management of computers with a generic log-on account and includes administrative features for remote management and accountability by auditing user access. Unlock

Administrator supports integration with Active Directory, so local and global user groups can be managed remotely using Group Policy GPOs. Version 2.10 now adds the ability to run scripts when a system is locked, unlocked or when the current user is being logged off.

”Unlock Administrator enables management personnel to log in to any locked computer using their own private password and immediately gain access to that system. Not having to shut down the system and restart is a big timesaver for our customers,” said Edward Milczarek, director of software development for e-motional.com software.

”The remote management features using Active Directory allows our clients to add or remove user privileges at any time, and all users are held accountable.”
