Certifying as a Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris 9 Operating System requires passing two exams: #310-014 and #310-015. Individuals who’ve already taken and passed both exams for an earlier Solaris version (2.5, 2.6, 7 or 8) can take one upgrade exam instead. Table 1 summarizes the Part I exam, #310-014, for easy reference.

Overall, this certification focuses on managing computers running the Solaris 9 operating system (a proprietary UNIX implementation that belongs to Sun). This dissection lays out topical coverage for Part I, exam #310-014, with brief mention of Part II, #310-015. Note that candidates must take and pass the former before they can register to take the latter.
