CompTIA Creating Futures Charity Golf Classic Set

<strong>Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. &mdash; Jan. 15</strong><br />The CompTIA Educational Foundation announced that its second annual Creating Futures Charity Golf Classic will be held Aug. 4, in Orlando, Fla. <br /> <br />Falcon&rsquo;s Fire Golf Club, one of Orlando&rsquo;s premier public golf courses, will host the Classic.<br /> <br />Proceeds from the event will benefit Creating Futures, an initiative of the CompTIA Educational Foundation that provides opportunities to individuals who have historically been under-represented in the information technology industry workforce, including veterans transitioning out of the military, individuals with disabilities, at-risk youth and dislocated workers. Creating Futures works with employers to identify their hiring needs and then tailors education and training programs to help individuals obtain the skills employers are looking for.  <br /> <br />The Creating Futures Charity Golf Classic will be held in conjunction with Breakaway, the annual conference for CompTIA members. Breakaway 2008, the IT industry&rsquo;s premier education and networking event, is set for Aug. 5-7 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando.<br /> <br />&ldquo;The Creating Futures Charity Golf Classic is a great way for Breakaway attendees to get an early start on networking with their industry colleagues, while at the same time demonstrating their support for a program that&rsquo;s helping our industry,&rdquo; said John Venator, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA.<br /> <br />Falcon&rsquo;s Fire is an 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course designed by world-renowned golf course architect Rees Jones. It has been awarded four stars by Golf Digest Magazine in their annual &ldquo;Places to Play&rdquo; publication. <br /> <br />&ldquo;Falcon&rsquo;s Fire is one of the most talked about &lsquo;must play&rsquo; public golf facilities in the greater Orlando area; and as an avid golfer, I am looking forward to playing this challenging course,&rdquo; said Gary Gillam, vice president, channel operations, Xerox North America, and chairman of the Creating Futures Leadership Council.<br /> <br />Sponsorship opportunities for the Creating Futures Charity Golf Classic are available. <br />
