Classes for CyberSecurity Forensic Analyst Cert

<p><strong>Lynnwood, Wash. &mdash; July 25</strong><br />Edmonds Community College students who complete the second in a series of three digital forensics classes offered as part of a certificate program at the college have the option to test to earn the CyberSecurity Forensic Analyst (CFSA) certification at no additional charge. </p><p>The test otherwise costs $400.<br />&nbsp;<br />The certification test, developed by computer forensics experts in law enforcement and industry, requires candidates to process a computer forensic case from start to finish and submit an analysis of their findings. </p><p>The CFSA certification is one of a handful of industry-recognized certifications for digital forensics examiners on par with those offered by international associations of computer forensics examiners and investigators.<br />&nbsp;<br />An increase in the use of computer-based evidence for civil and criminal legal cases has resulted in greater demand for well-trained digital forensics specialists by law enforcement, military and private industry.<br />&nbsp;<br />In the past few years, Edmonds Community College has added classes in network security, information security, Linux and digital forensics. </p><p>Students can earn a two-year information security degree or certificates in digital forensics, network security specialist or Linux Security Specialist. </p><p>Classes provide hands-on exercises that focus on real-world case examples.<br />&nbsp;<br />The CFSA certification is offered through CyberSecurity Institute, owned by Steve Hailey, an instructor at Edmonds Community College.</p><p>The next test for the certification will be in October. Candidates complete an FBI background check before taking the test.</p>
