Security+ Emerges InfoSec Entry-Level Heavyweight

While there are plenty of contenders for the heavyweight crown in the entry-level information certification arena (see Table 1), CompTIA’s Security+ credential is emerging as the winner by a knockout. Perhaps it’s because CompTIA has a lot of industry clout or following or because Security+ is building real name recognition. Perhaps it’s because Security+ is appearing in an increasing number of third-party certifications either as a recommended pre-certification or as an elective or required element (see Table 2).
