Cisco Enhances Career Certification Benefits
Cisco Systems Inc. announced that its Career Certifications Program is enhancing certification-holder benefits to include electronic delivery of certifications, a free network security game and an improved knowledge-sharing portal for certified individuals.
Certified individuals now have the option to receive electronic Cisco certificates in PDF format within three business days of certification at no cost. Previously, customers would wait six to eight weeks to receive their earned certificates in the mail. With the new capability of electronic receipt, certified professionals have the flexibility to print and e-mail their certifications. Certified engineers also have the option to let current and prospective employers verify their certification status online.
Certification holders can also utilize the Cisco Certifications Community, a knowledge-sharing portal exclusively for Cisco-certified individuals, which has recently launched a game on network security. The free exclusive community portal (http://www.cisco.com/go/certcommunity) serves as a platform for Cisco certified individuals to network and interact with peers to share best practices. The Cisco Certifications Community offers access to news, discussion groups, video presentations, white papers, articles and learning program information.
Recently, Cisco has also introduced Certifications Connect—a monthly live talk show on learning topics—for its certified customers on the Community. Past shows on security, recertification and CCIE are archived at http://www.cisco.com/go/communitytv for free viewing.
“Cisco Career Certifications are a trusted standard for validating technical skills and knowledge,” said Don Field, senior manager, Internet Learning Solutions Group, Cisco Systems. “By providing a broad range of complimentary benefits for the Cisco-certified community, Cisco is fulfilling its ongoing commitment to deliver valuable and relevant learning—and the tools to support that effort—to our employees, customers and partners.”
Cisco offers three levels of general certification: Associate, Professional and Expert. Each is available in various tracks such as Routing and Switching, Network Security and Service Provider. A variety of Cisco Qualified Specialist certifications are also available to show knowledge in specific technologies, solutions or job roles.
Training may be purchased via Cisco Learning Credits, which are redeemable at participating Cisco Learning Partner locations.
