Carson City, N.V. — Sept. 9
Due to an increasingly competitive business environment, managing risk in projects using formal techniques, methods and tools was recently credentialed by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is supported by an online-class offering by Cheetah Learning, a global provider of education and training for project managers.

The new PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) credential was introduced in late June. The PMI-RMP certification is designed to substantiate the applicant’s knowledge, skills and experience in handling project risk. Applicants for the PMI-RMP exam need a bachelor’s degree or global equivalent, three-to-five years of professional work experience (with 3,000 hours of experience in project risk management) and 30 contact hours of formal education in project risk management.

Cheetah Learning’s Project Risk Management Online Course satisfies the 30-contact-hour requirement, while offering the convenience and energy savings of online learning with Cheetah’s proven accelerated learning techniques.

“Instead of hit-or-miss, educated guesses about minimizing risk in projects, the new credential and Cheetah Learning’s online course will offer project managers solid, proven methods,” said Chief Cheetah Michelle LaBrosse, PMP. “And our online course format is comprehensive yet convenient, and saves time and energy, too.”

Like all Cheetah courses, the Project Risk Management Online Course uses Cheetah’s proprietary Accelerated Quality in Learning Model: Learn, Do, Check, Act. To receive full credit for the course, applicants must complete all the activities to the satisfaction of the online coach, including a Learning Journal, pass the risk management process knowledge exams at the end of each module and record the actual date and the amount of time required to do each activity in the online learning schedule.

Applicants have up to 10 weeks from their registration date to complete course activities and must purchase their own required course texts. Upon completion of the 30-hour course, students meet the 30 contact-hour requirement necessary to sit for the new PMI-RMP certification exam. The course also grants 3.0 CEUs as well as 30 PDUs for active PMPs to maintain their certification. All Cheetah courses are PMI R.E.P and IACET Certified.
