Chantel Sheaks Joins Buck Consultants as Principal

<strong>New York &mdash; March 18</strong><br />Chantel Sheaks has joined Buck Consultants as principal of government affairs in the firm&#39;s Washington office.<br /><br />Sheaks joins Buck from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as legislative counsel for Tax and Benefits on its Workplace Flexibility 2010 project, as well as adjunct professor of health and welfare benefit plans. Prior to that, she was a Partner at McDermott Will & Emery LLP in Washington. Her areas of expertise include issues such as phased retirement, the aging workforce, benefit plan administration, fiduciary issues, ERISA litigation and health care.<br /><br />Sheaks will serve as one of Buck&#39;s technical experts and spokespersons in regards to the firm&#39;s interpretation of and position on regulations, legislation and court decisions. She will actively participate in HR industry groups on behalf of the firm. <br /><br />Sheaks will remain involved with the Mature Alliance Network, a group of individuals that serve as thought leaders on older worker issues. She also will remain the U.S. policy representative for the Global Perspectives Institute at Boston College, a group that coordinates research on quality employment in various countries.<br /><br />Sheaks received her bachelor&#39;s degree from Randolph-Macon Woman&rsquo;s College in Virginia, and her JD from Northeastern University School of Law.
