Cenzic Awarded Strong Patent for Web Application

<p><strong>Santa Clara, Calif. &mdash; June 21</strong><br />Cenzic, a provider of Web application security assessment and risk-management, has announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) has issued the company U.S. Patent No. 7,185,232. </p><p>It is focused on fault injection technology, which is commonly used by most security assessment scanners. </p><p>Titled &quot;Fault Injection Methods and Apparatus,&quot; the patent covers critical aspects of Cenzic&#39;s cutting-edge technology, including some of the company&#39;s most sought-out intellectual property &mdash; fault injection patterns, target site traversal baselines and mutations of request grammars. </p><p>This newly awarded patent further validates Cenzic&#39;s innovation in the application security space and recognizes it as the pioneer of this technology.<br /><br />&quot;This patent acknowledges Cenzic&#39;s innovative technology for application security assessment, which our customers can use to secure their Web applications,&quot; said John Weinschenk, Cenzic CEO and president. &quot;We are very pleased to receive this patent, which protects Cenzic&#39;s role as the only company that has patents on Fault Injection, a key component of all application security testing solutions. </p><p>&quot;In the upcoming weeks, we&#39;ll be looking at other vendors in this space to understand the implications of this patent vis-&agrave;-vis the methodology used by these other players.&quot;<br /><br />In today&#39;s environment with cybercrime and security breaches at an all-time high, Web application security is becoming one of the biggest issues for companies of all sizes. </p><p>Confirming the importance of protecting Web applications, the Cenzic Application Security Trends Report – Q1 2007 found seven out of 10 applications vulnerable to serious attacks. </p><p>As the urgency increases, companies are searching for the most effective solution to address Web attacks and protect company and customer assets. </p><p>Cenzic customers can be assured that they have the best solution to identify and resolve security vulnerabilities.</p>
