An Open Letter to Vladimir Putin

Dear Vlad:

First of all, let me just say that it’s an honor to receive an e-mail from you. The fact that you, the president of a major nation would take the time to write to me, a humble journalist at an American IT magazine, is quite wonderful, not to mention very surprising.

However, I was a little baffled by your characterization that stock in Goldmark Industries Inc. is expected to break out this week and would be a “strong buy.” That may well be true, but that’s the kind of advice I expect to receive from my stockbroker, not from the leader of one of the most powerful countries in the world. And even more confusing was the fact that the Subject line of the e-mail read “Phones,” when in fact there was nothing at all about phones in the message.

If you get a minute, please write back and clarify all of this for me. Also, in the future, I must insist that your message relate to IT issues, as this is a work e-mail account.

Look forward to hearing from you again!

Take care,

Brian Summerfield

P.S.: Loved you in Chechnya! Any plans for a sequel?
