Certification Magazine Mission Statment

Certification Magazine is a technical training and certification publication designed to deliver the most current information available about technical certification programs from a variety of vendors. The publication offers a comprehensive view of the market and provides information about how to obtain the certification best suited to one’s career. Certification Magazine examines career options and profiles certified professionals who lead the industry.

Editorial components include: Cover stories and columns on important industry events, issues and trends; Interviews with industry leaders; Updates of requirements and benefits of specific certification programs; Listings and comments about new exams; Industry Analysis; and a compendium of industry events including Certification Magazine’s conferences and seminars.

Norman B. Kamikow
President and Editor in Chief
Norm Kamikow is president and editor in chief of MediaTec Publishing Inc., which publishes Chief Learning Officer magazine, Workforce Performance Solutions magazine and Certification Magazine, along with targeted supplements, special reports and electronic newsletters for each publication. Chief Learning Officer was named “Best New Publication” by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE). Norm also received the 2005 Innovation Award from BtoB Magazine, which honored him as Top Publisher of the Year. Norm also oversees the CLO Symposium live conference series, the CLO Breakfast Club programs and MediaTec’s e-seminar series, as well as all research initiatives and special projects for all publications.

 

Norm has more than 25 years of magazine and direct marketing publishing experience. Since beginning his career with Seventeen Magazine, Norm has worked either directly or as a consultant/representative to many consumer and business-to-business magazines. With a specialty in new magazine development, he has played a key role in the launch of OMNI Magazine, SPIN Magazine, Game Players Magazine, CD-ROM Today, Internet World and Web Week. He contributed to the redesign of such magazines as Financial World and CD-ROM World. As President/CEO of Decks Incorporated, he worked with several major publishing companies to develop revenue resources from alternative media. This client base included Business Week, Fortune, Money Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Esquire, The Journal of the American Dental Association and Dun & Bradstreet Reports. Norm is a recipient of the Tempo Award from the Direct Marketing Association and is a biographee of Marquis Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in Advertising and the Media.

 

John R. Taggart
Executive Vice President and Group Publisher

John Taggart is Executive Vice President/Group Publisher of MediaTec Publishing Inc., which publishes Chief Learning Officer magazine, Workforce Performance Solutions magazine and Certification Magazine, along with targeted supplements, special reports and electronic newsletters. Chief Learning Officer was named “Best New Publication” by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE). Mediatec Publishing also produces the CLO Symposium live conference series, the CLO Breakfast Club programs and MediaTec’s e-seminar series.

 

John brings 20 years of experience in the technology publishing industry to MediaTec. In addition to sales positions with several leading publications, John served as Vice President, Publishing of Antic Publishing, where he managed sales, circulation, editorial and production departments for both Antic and Amiga Plus magazines. As President of Taggart Pierce & Company, he has represented Compute!, Internet World, CD-ROM Today, Business Communications Review, Microsoft Certified Professional and InfoStor. John is an active member of the National Association of Publishers’ Representatives; the San Francisco Advertising Club and numerous community-based organizations.

 

Tim Sosbe
Editorial Director

Tim Sosbe is Editorial Director for MediaTec Publishing Inc., which publishes Chief Learning Officer magazine, Workforce Performance Solutions magazine and Certification Magazine, along with targeted supplements, special reports and electronic newsletters. Chief Learning Officer was named “Best New Publication” by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE). Tim also directs content for the CLO Symposium live conference series, the CLO Breakfast Club programs and MediaTec’s e-seminar series, as well as research initiatives and special projects for each publication and event.

 

Tim has nearly two decades of publishing experience at magazines, newspapers and corporate communications departments across the United States. Tim’s past positions include serving as Director of Information Services at the Illinois Manufacturer’s Association, helping launch Web Techniques magazine in 1996, providing Web training for educators for the Illinois School Board, developing community newspapers across the Midwest, and working as Webmaster for Apple Computer. Tim has held editorial positions in Chicago, San Francisco and his native Indiana and currently is a member of the Editorial Committee for American Business Media. Tim’s career as an editor and writer has earned him the California Newspaper Publishers Award, the Illinois Master Communicator Award of Excellence and other honors in statewide competitions in California, Indiana and Illinois for writing and for editing several print and Web publications.
