A New Year Is Almost Here
December has been a demanding month on-the-job. We have all been sprinting around the office trying to reach our deadlines and complete as much as possible before Jan. 1. Among the mess of files, Outlook reminders and looming deadlines, I seemed to forget all about the holidays. On Saturday, it finally occurred to me that the holidays were seven days away (now merely four days) and needless to say, panic quickly ensued thereafter.
However, my panic quickly turned into personal amusement. It seems that it very common for the working populous to forget about their personal lives today. We are all so engrossed in our daily tasks on-the-job that we sometimes forget how to function outside of the office. For example, while spending some much-needed time with my friends on Saturday, I kept catching myself talking about work. And I don’t know about you, but I would rather not turn into one of those people, whose life and conversations revolve around their job.
That said, it is time to come up with our work New Year’s resolutions. Next year, I vow to manage my work and personal life better in hopes to that I can merely remember to get a haircut, pay the bills and, of course, remember to buy gifts when need be.
